Eolian Hall

Rewiring and upgrading an historical building.

RAD Electrical worked closely with the president and a committee member of the Isole Eolie Club, to make some drastic changes to their club headquarters/functional centre on Lygon Street in Melbourne’s iconic inner city suburb of Carlton.
The hall was originally built in 1925 and is listed as historic building in Melbourne. This posed a challenging job for us at RAD due to:
- The front of the hall was to be left completely unchanged in order to maintain it’s historic presence.
- The hall would have to be brought up to comply with the current Australian electrical and wiring standards.
Following an inspection of the building, it was quite obvious that the entire building would need to be rewired/upgraded in order to comply with the current Australian electrical and wiring standards. A meeting was held with the president and the committee member and we explained in detail what had to be done.
Once agreed on by the club president and committee members we were given the keys to the Hall and a two-week time frame to complete the job of:
- Complete gut-out and removal of all electrical wiring, equipment and switchboards.
- Installation of new switchboards, power, lighting and kitchen appliances.
It is now safe to say that two weeks and 120 LED lights later, the Hall looks amazing, is no longer full of electrical hazards and is safe for the Isole Eolie club to enjoy for the next 100 or so years!

University Apartments

Multi-unit development installation of electrical systems, light, power and air conditioning.

In 2012 RAD Electrical was contracted by builders to complete an apartment complex consisting of 16 one-bedroom apartments opposite Deakin University in Burwood. The aim of this complex was to provide ongoing housing for some of Deakin University’s students due to its great location.
The project included:
- Installation of electrical systems, light and power
- Installation of emergency lighting
- Installation of fire emergency systems
- Installation of split system air conditioners for each apartment
The building is now complete and provides comfortable living areas for over a dozen Deakin University students.

Residential Home, Pakenham

Residential installation of electrical systems, light, power and air conditioning.

Paul and Susan Daly contacted RAD Electrical for the construction of their new home in Pakenham. The construction was a modern 2-story house design with LED down lights, pendant lights, ceiling fans, a swimming pool and 4x split system air conditioners.
The construction started in July, and the electrical air-conditioning installations were completed in the allocated time frame.
The first step of this job for RAD was to install a temporary power supply onsite to allow other tradies to get to work using power tools etc. The “rough in” then followed this initial phase – where electrical cables and wiring would be installed throughout the house while at frame stage.
The last task was to fit, test and commission off all of the electrical and air conditioning components such as: power, lighting, switchboards etc.
The job was completed successfully and left us with another happy customer

Owner Builder Project, Pascoe Vale

Installation of electrical systems, light, power and air conditioning.

In 2011 RAD Electrical were approached by long time return customers Peter and Jenny Giorgoulous. Peter – an owner builder – had plans and permits to demolish his existing house in Pascoe Vale and build a double storey 4-bedroom house with a separate double storey studio in the back yard.
After chatting with Peter and Jenny we were contracted to complete the new house in 2012 after the demolition had taken place.
The project works included:
- Security lighting
- Smoke alarms
- Lighting – a mix of down lights and pendant lights
- Power throughout the home and studio
- Phone, data and TV points throughout the home and studio, and a video intercom between the house and studio.
- Alarm system
- 2x split system air conditioners
The home was completed in November 2012 and is now enjoyed by Peter, Jenny and their 3 young daughters.
